Vulnerability at Work
Posted in Black bird Singing on September 13th, 2011 by DaveWhether you are a follower or a leader, it is just important to become vulnerable of things that may come your way. Being vulnerable does not necessarily mean being susceptible to physical things but all the more on the unseen—emotional aspects, censorship, criticism.
As a leader, you need to be steadfast in whatever problems you may encounter on your management. As a leader, you must show your firmness, not necessarily having a mind shut off from criticisms to other people. Being firm means, you should of course hear or let other people their concerns or even complaints, but you also need to review these, analyze and make a “firm” decision after all things have been considered.
Meanwhile, if you are a follower, you can not just accept whatever your superior wishes you to do. Sometimes, you also need to be “vulnerable” on things that you think are below the belt and unjust.
It is nice if you do things right and well, especially when you want to impress somebody, for instance your boss at work. However, sometimes, being perfectionist is not advisable do it as it may result to not getting things done in time. It is because, you are too bogged down on details.
A lot of people have this wrong notion of peace. They believe that peace is the absence of war and it is calmness at its very best. However, the real essence of peace cannot be measured by the absence of war. We see war as a battle between person to person or country to country. However, war can take place everywhere. It can be you against your computer, you against your god, or you against yourself. Thus, even if you see no big war as long as you have this huge struggle within yourself, it is not yet time to call it peace.
